One Saturday every year, Security Plumbing & Heating Supply shuts everything down for the day. No, it’s not a random vacation day for all 146 employees of the Selkirk, N.Y-based distributor; it’s quite the opposite.

“We spend a lot on training,” states Brian Fowler, Security Supply’s vice president of sales and marketing. “On that Saturday, we dedicate a full day of training on new products from vendors and internal technology enhancements whether it’s our operating system or various Google functions.”
Improvement in its technological standing clearly wasn’t the lone factor in Security Supply’s increased 2012 sales and appearance once again in the Supply House Times 2013 Premier 125 rankings....

Donation Collection "Huge" from Albany County
In just one week, Albany County employees and residents collected enough boxes and bags of items needed by victims of Hurricane Sandy that they exceeded the expectations of Security Plumbing & Heating Supply and filled two trucks. The local company, with its headquarters in Selkirk, had originally asked partners in the area to help them fill one truck to take downstate and provide relief to those who needed it most.
"I knew that the outpouring of support from Albany County would be tremendous," said County Executive Daniel McCoy, "but the overwhelming number of boxes of donated goods collected at 112 State Street, our DSS building and Albany County Health Department amazes me. I'm so proud that we are doing our part to help those who need it most. Thank you to everyone who has donated in this effort or picked up the phone to volunteer. Thank you to PEF Local 502 for large supply of items their members donated and thank you to Security Plumbing & Heating Supply for once again demonstrating how successful a public-private partnership can be."
"I'm really proud of our associates, customers, vendors and the public who all came together and filled two tractor trailers of supplies when we had planned for just one box truck," said Keith Bennett, CEO/President of Security Plumbing & Heating Supply. "The outpouring of support and donations from our community is amazing. We even sent a check for $8,100 from all the cash that was donated to us."
"PEF Local 502 was happy to assist the victims of Hurricane Sandy and we are confident our donation will help those in need," said Matthew Calderwood, PEF Local 502 Leader.
